Thin-Object Segmentation

A cross-domain survey of power-line, crack, and retinal-vessel segmentation, from classical pipelines to promptable foundation models.

#ComputerVision#FoundationModels

Overview

Power lines, surface cracks, and retinal vessels are studied by separate communities but pose the same problem: the target occupies a handful of pixels per row, so class imbalance and connectivity dominate everything else.

Scope

The survey traces these three domains together, from classical filtering and hand-designed pipelines through deep segmentation networks to promptable foundation models, and reads across them for the methods that transfer.
